Hi Gabriela, tell us a bit about yourself!
I am from Brazil and I have been in Osaka since 2017. Because my grandfather was Japanese I always wanted to move to Japan and learn more about my heritage. I was able to combine that wish with my academic life, so now I find myself taking a PhD course at Osaka University. Japan has been wonderful and living in Osaka is amazing. I think everyone should experience Japan and its culture, especially through food, which I have learned is a powerful way to get closer to locals.
Why did you decide to join Lokafy?
Because I’m a student in Japan, sometimes I get too caught up with the lab and university routine. Lokafy tours are the perfect opportunity to talk to a very special kind of people: people on vacations! They are always relaxed, in a good mood, willing to hangout… Just up for anything really! How could I say no?
What do you love most about your city?
What I love the most about Osaka is the people. Osakans are super friendly and helpful, I feel very welcomed wherever I go and the city has a strong eating and drinking culture so everywhere you go there is good food and good people
If someone comes to visit you, where would you take them to eat?
If someone comes to visit me I would take them to eat at Dotombori area. There you can find all kinds of Japanese food, from street food to traditional Japanese cuisine. Also, the area itself is very peculiar. Even just walking around with the crowd is an interesting experience.
