1. Hi Sabine, tell us a bit about yourself!
I am originally from Vienna, Austria, and have lived in the Bay Area for about four years now. During the week I work at a tech start-up in Silicon Valley and on the weekends I go out and do what I love most: exploring all the amazing things that San Francisco and the surrounding area has to offer. The beautiful sights and sounds of the city, its amazing people, music, arts, the delicious food, the California wines, and the incredible natural beauty of the whole area – there never is a dull moment here!
2. Why did you decide to join Lokafy?
It allows me to combine my love of meeting new people with my joy of creating wonderful experiences for new friends! Lokafy makes it so easy to connect and meet the most wonderful and interesting people. When I share my favorite spots with them, I get to relive my joy and passion all over again.
3. What do you love most about your city?
I love the great variety of experiences and the rich history – the city attracts the most interesting people with unique backgrounds, which adds to the diversity and vibe of San Francisco. This city is one of the most beautiful, diverse and tolerant cities in the United States. From the back alleys and bakeries in Chinatown, the murals in the Mission district with a side of most delicious burritos, watching an incredible sunset from the Lands End Lookout, a picnic with delicious Californian wine at the Golden Gate bridge, to sampling award-winning pizza in the North Beach neighborhood or jamming away with the bands at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival – there is so much to do and see!
4. If someone comes to visit you, where would you take them to eat?
Good question! It really depends what we’re doing that day and what we are in the mood for and what our budget is – because San Francisco offers all kinds of delicious flavors and food experiences. If we are exploring Chinatown, I would try to get a table at Mr. Jiu’s – it’s exciting to see the new face of Chinatown. Are you ready to explore the Mission District – then we’ll check out El Techo for a Saturday brunch or La Taqueria. Or let’s brunch at Tartine’s and hang out in Dolores Park for a great view and some fun people watching. I simply love to bring visitors to the Ferry Building for the farmer’s market – we sample exciting flavorsand and meet the locals! Let’s take a trip down the coast, watch the surfer’s on Pacifica’s Linda Mar beach and then watch a sunset from the bar of Costanera’s restaurant before indulging in flavorful Peruvian food. And the list goes on and on and on
5. When you’re not working for Lokafy, what do you like to do for fun?
I do the same things I love to do with my Lokafy friends visiting the area – I love to try new restaurants, catch an exciting exhibition in the Legion of Honor museum, shop the stores in Haight Ashbury, camp on the beach in Half Moon Bay and end the day sipping a cocktail overlooking an amazing sunset in the Ritz Carlton for happy hour, be utterly impressed by the beauty of Big Sur, and ski the resorts at Lake Tahoe …. and so much more
